NONPROFITS STRONG: Blackbaud, provider of software and related services for the nonprofit sector, released results from its inaugural "State of the Nonprofit Industry" survey. Of the 1,319 people surveyed, 59 percent reported budget increases this year, despite the struggling economy. In addition, 96 percent of nonprofits expect to either maintain or add to executive/management staffing levels this year and 57 percent reported growth in donations from individuals. While 75 percent indicated a rise in demand for the services they provide, that increased demand has created challenges. More than two-thirds (68 percent) reported that raising money to fund services was a top management concern. Key speakers include Ambassador Andrew Young, Harvard legal scholar and author Charles Ogletree and former Governors Jim Hunt (NC) and Roy Barnes (GA).
