NEWS COVERAGE

REINVENTING AGING: According to Reinventing Aging: Baby Boomers and Civic Engagement, the oldest of the baby boomers will turn 65 in seven years, with an average life expectancy of 83. These extra years, unique in human history, can be considered a new stage of life. As some of the demands of mid-life recede, boomers have the potential to become a tremendous social resource by actively participating in the life of their communities. The report, sponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health-MetLife Foundation Initiative on Retirement and Civic Engagement, tries to determine whether boomers will do so.
