Fletcher); Ellen Dadisman (Council on Foundations); Heather Peeler (Innonet) NEWS COVERAGE AD COUNCIL: Until recently, the Advertising Council has distributed free public service campaign materials to media outlets nationwide with the hopes that they will be used. But now the council is asking big media conglomerates for upfront, specific donations of time and space. Its first round of negotiations produced media commitments valued at $250 million. While previous campaigns brought in donated media worth more than $1 billion a year for the past six years, according to Peggy Conlon, president and CEO of the Ad Council, "This unprecedented contribution from the media represents a whole new era in public service advertising." JUST PUBLISHED STANDARDS ACTION: The latest CFSource reports on the appointment of Mary Jalonick, executive director of The Dallas Foundation, as chair of the Standards Action Team. The issue highlights the need for reviewers of standards compliance and issues a call for proposals for small grants for the next stage of standards implementation. It also includes information on three Washington, DC, conferences: Community Foundation Fundamentals (June 1416); Financial Administration for Community Foundations (June 1718); and Resource Development for Community Foundations (July 2223). WASDEN, attorney general of Idaho, to its board of directors. CHRIS FITZSIMON joined the A.J. Fletcher Foundation to head NC Policy Watch. ELLEN DADISMAN, Council on Foundations vice president, government and media relations, was appointed vice president of communications and membership.
