BREAKING NEWS

NEW APPOINTEE SOON? According to the Associated Press, Philanthropy Roundtable President John P. Walters could be named this week to head the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Walters previously served as the office's deputy director for supply reduction during William Bennett's tenure as head in former President Bush's administration. Read more:

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS: The Goldman Environmental Prize winners for this year are Jane Akre and Steve Wilson, Eugene Rutagarama, Oscar Olivera, Yosepha Alomang, Myrsini Malakou and Giorgos Catsadorakis, and Bruno Van Peteghem. The Goldman Environmental Foundation's prize of $125,000 to each winner is the largest award for grassroots environmentalists.
